What celebrity endorsement actually costs in India in 2026

The single most common question a brand asks — and the one agencies are strangely coy about — is simply: what will this face cost? There is no public rate card, but there are honest bands, and understanding what moves them is worth more than any number.
The rough bands
As industry benchmarks, A-list film and cricket names typically sit in the several-crore range per campaign; rising and character actors in the tens of lakhs to a couple of crore; strong regional stars from twenty lakh upward; and digital creators from a few lakh to tens of lakh depending on following and category. These are ranges, not quotes — every deal is negotiated.
What actually drives the fee
Four things move the number more than fame does: exclusivity (category lock-outs cost real money), usage (how long, which media, which territories), deliverables (a shoot day plus stills plus social is not one fee), and timing (festive and tournament windows carry a premium). A smaller name on a tight, well-scoped brief often beats a bigger name on a bloated one.
How to control it
Scope before you shortlist. Decide the media, the window and the exclusivity you truly need, then negotiate against that — not against a wish list. A brand that knows exactly what it is buying almost always pays less than one that starts from the star and works backwards.
